Use the initially pleasant routing of the fourth stage of Route 1291 to catch your breath after the strenuous ascent and descent of the previous stages. But this break won’t last long: From Meiringen, the route leads over the Brünig Pass into the picturesque Lungern and further over the Mörlialp and the Glaubenbielen Pass into the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch to Sörenberg. Enjoy the view from the foot of the highest mountain of the canton of Lucerne, the Brienzer Rothorn, over the breathtaking and extensive karst and moor landscape of international importance.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author
A jump into Lake Lungern, a refreshment for overheated bodies.
Cheese lovers take note: On the Fluonalp Alp-Sbrinz AOP is produced during the alpine season. The detour is definitely worth it for a visit to the cheese dairy, a small refreshment, or even an overnight stay on the alp.
Every Sunday from July to September there is a sunrise trip to the Brienzer Rothorn.
