Ski Patrol Service

Bergbahnen Sörenberg

Our heroes in orange are responsible for safety on the slopes. They are out every day carrying out rescues and slope inspections, and on days with heavy snowfall they perform avalanche blasting.

Correct behaviour in an emergency

Stay calm

If you arrive at the scene of an accident as a first responder, staying calm is the top priority. This will help you assess the situation more clearly and provide first aid more effectively. A calm helper also gives the injured person a sense of security.

Assess the danger

Get a quick overview of the situation: Is the terrain dangerous? Is there a risk of falling rocks, for example? In emergencies where your own safety is at risk, your life comes first. Call the emergency number and do not put yourself in danger.

Secure the accident site

If the injured person is in a dangerous area (e.g. on a busy path or on a ski slope in a blind curve), you must secure the accident site (for example, by placing crossed ski poles above the bend).

Make the emergency call

If the injured person is unconscious, bleeding heavily, or complaining of chest pain, do not lose any time. In these life-threatening situations, every second counts.

EchoSOS

Emergency App

The free emergency app EchoSOS is an important aid for the ski patrol. Although most people carry a smartphone with them, locating someone in need of help can be difficult. In poor weather conditions or off-piste, the person in distress is often unable to determine their position. With the app installed, they can share their location. EchoSOS simplifies communication during rescue operations, saving valuable time
