The Ibex Trek invites you to choose your adventure – conquer it in a single exhilarating day, or stretch it into a two-day ridge hike with an overnight stay at the cozy Berghaus Eisee. Along the way, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramas of the iconic Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks, and the shimmering turquoise waters of Lake Brienz. With a touch of luck, you might even spot majestic ibex, soaring golden eagles, or playful marmots in their alpine home.
One-Day-Hike
Glide up from Sörenberg to Rossweid by gondola, where your alpine journey begins. From there, the trail winds through rugged ridges, rocky slopes, and idyllic pastures, leading you via Lattgässli to the summit of the Brienzer Rothorn. At the top, a breathtaking 360° panorama opens up — with sweeping views of turquoise Lake Brienz and an incredible 693 mountain peaks stretching to the horizon.
Treat yourself to a well-earned break at the Rothorn summit restaurant before descending comfortably by cable car back into the valley

2-Day-Hike
The adventure begins at Rossweid mountain station, following the well-marked ‘Steinbock Trek’. Over two stages, the trail winds across scenic ridges and stunning alpine landscapes, passing Blattenegg, Lättgässli, and Brienzer Rothorn, before reaching Eisee, where you’ll spend the night at the cozy Eisee mountain lodge. Refreshed the next day, continue your journey over Eisesattel and Arnihaaggen to Schönbüel, then descend via Fontanen and Jänzimatt back to Sörenberg. A hike packed with natural wonders, breathtaking vistas, and unforgettable memories.
Prices
When you stay overnight at the Berghaus Eisee, you will receive the Sörenberg Card, which gives you free access to the Rossweid gondola lift, the Brienzer Rothorn cable car and the Eisee chairlift.
Without an overnight stay, the regular ticket prices for the lifts apply.
