Winter closure of the Glaubenbielen Pass

The panoramic road connects the cantons of Obwalden and Lucerne between Giswil and Sörenberg. It crosses the 1,600-meter-high Glaubenbielen Pass and is 17 kilometers long. From Monday, November 17, 2025, the winter closure will be signaled and the road will therefore be closed. Depending on the weather, the winter closure will last until around the beginning of May 2026. The current road conditions can be checked at any time at www.alpen-paesse.ch.

Repair Work

From Monday, 17 March 2025, repair work will be carried out on two bridges along the K 36 cantonal road in the municipality of Flühli, between Flühli and Sörenberg. The bridges affected are the Rotbach Bridge near Hüttlenen and the Hirsegg Bridge, which crosses the Waldemme River. Traffic restrictions are expected in both areas for the duration of the construction period. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane and controlled by traffic lights, which may lead to delays. The construction work is expected to continue until the end of 2025.
